The Great Wall of China at Mutianyu

The Great Wall of China

Begun in the 8th Century BC, the Great Wall was built primarily to
protect the Chinese Empire from attack. Over the centuries, the wall was extended to over 5700 km in length and withstood many battles

Today, most of the wall shows the scars of these attacks and
neglect over time, except for a few sections which have been
restored to their former glory
