Mad King Ludwig's crown jewel is the New Swan Stone Castle in Bavaria, Germany near the Austrian border.

Ludwig squandered his entire family fortune in its construction and may have led to his mysterious death in 1886. The grand architecture of this structure became the model for all fairytale castles, most notably Disney's Magic Kingdom
