Located
along the Atlantic Ocean coastline of Northern Namibia and Southern
Angola the Skeleton Coast is referred to as "The Land God Made
in Anger" by the Bushmen of the Namibian interior and "The
Gates of Hell" by the original Portuguese sailors that first
attempted to navigate its tumultuous waters
The coast
is a veritable graveyard of unfortunate vessels - victims of the
unpredictable Benguela current and the dense ocean fogs (called
"cassimbo" by the Angolans) that come together here
for much of the year
